InstagramMargot is a classically trained violinist and composer who spent over a decade contributing to the pop world — recording strings for artists like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and St Vincent, performing with Katy Perry at Carnegie Hall and opening for legends such as Janet Jackson, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder with her band The Dolls (with DJ Mia Moretti) at venues including the Louvre and the Guggenheim Museum. She has also composed scores for Nike Women, Elle, American Express, Barneys, the Whitney Museum, film trailers, as well as her first feature documentary, Born Free, and the short animation film AIR.
Her debut record, The Apartment on Third Street, released with Amazon Music in 2021, has amassed over 13 million streams.
We met Margot and her husband Juan a year ago in Paris, as she was seeking a new home for her art. The dialogue between her uncompromising, percussive, and deeply emotive violin and Juan’s refined piano and production opened the door to a powerful new artistic journey. In the coming months, new music will offer the first glimpse into her sonic universe.
